CANDES Trainee Travel Award

Applications for the IETS 2027 Annual Conference are now open! All applications must be submitted through the IETS Annual Conference abstract submission portal.

Upcoming deadlines: (all deadlines are due at 11:59 p.m. CT)

• Abstract submission and student competition verification form: July 23, 2026 (save the date to your calendar!)
• Student competition application materials: September 16, 2026 (save the date to your calendar!)
• Poster PDF submission: December 4, 2026 (save the date to your calendar!)

Your online application form should include the following information:

• Letter of intent containing
  • a statement about your research interest and impact of your research in CANDES;
  • the educational advantage of attending the IETS Annual Conference;
  • your career path;
  • how you plan to fund the trip to the IETS Annual Conference, in addition to the $1,000 or $500 award; and
  • declaration of abstract submission to the IETS Annual Conference.
• Letter of support from advisor or mentor
• CV or résumé

The award winners will each give a 15-minute oral presentation based on their accepted abstract during the concurrent CANDES session at the IETS Annual Conference.

Finalists of the Student Competition will not be eligible to be awarded the CANDES Trainee Travel Award.

Review process

Application submission deadline is September 16, 2026.

Review process will be completed by TBA, and winners will be notified by TBA.

Applications missing any of the required documents will not be considered.
