Abstract Submission Guidelines

We welcome the submission of abstracts that represent original, completed work that has not been accepted for publication in a journal. The abstract submission deadline is July 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CT.

As you submit your abstract, you will be asked to input an email and password for all future IETS 2026 Annual Conference abstract information, and you will be given a tracking number after submitting your abstract. Please keep a record of these. Your email and password will allow you to revise your submitted abstract at any time until the deadline. Your tracking number is a unique identifier in our system and should be used in any communications with IETS about your abstract.

The author submitting the abstract is responsible for its content and the quality of the preparation. The first author or a representative must present an expanded data report as a poster at #IETS2027. Students may enter their abstract in a competition sponsored by the IETS Foundation and are eligible to compete for travel awards. Learn more about eligibility, judging procedures, and prizes for the IETS student competitions.

Abstract Requirements

Abstracts must be in English and prepared strictly according to the instructions for submission. The language should be concise and avoid jargon. Abbreviations must be defined and should be used sparingly. Abstracts should consist of unpublished, original data and contain objectives, experimental methods (including statistical methods), results, and conclusions.

Before submitting, check that all author names and institutions are properly spelled and that you are submitting the correct data.

Submission Restrictions

Due to space restrictions, submissions are limited. An individual may not be the first author of more than one abstract. Space limitations allow a maximum of 3,300 keystrokes (counting the title, body, keywords, acknowledgments, and table, if included). Hard returns count as two keystrokes. When you hit the submit button, you will receive a message stating that you have information missing or that your abstract exceeds the limit. You will have the option to adjust your keystrokes and add missing information at that time.

If your abstract includes a table, the keystroke totals will include the table. You may cut and paste the table from Word into the abstract. Characters in the table will count toward the overall character limit.

Author Agreements

By submitting an abstract, the author verifies (1) that the information in the submitted manuscript has never been published and is the work of the named authors, who all agree to be listed as coauthors, (2) that the first author or a representative will present an expanded report of the data in poster form at the annual conference. Failure to present a poster after your abstract has been published in the conference proceedings can result in rejection of abstracts submitted by your laboratory in future years, and (3) that they will respond to the request for revisions within the allotted 48 hours.

Please be aware of patent and copyright considerations before submitting an abstract for publication.
