Tips for Crafting an Outstanding Abstract

  1. Follow the Character Limit
All abstracts must be under 3,300 keystrokes (counting the title, body, keywords, acknowledgments, and table, if included). Please note that hard returns count as two keystrokes.
  2. Structure Your Abstract Properly
    A well-organized abstract includes
    1. Clear objective statement: Begin with the specific purpose of your study
    2. Concise methods: Describe your experimental design, materials, and procedures
    3. Key results: Present only the most significant findings with relevant statistical analyses
    4. Meaningful conclusion: State the implications of your results and their significance to the field
  3. Present Original Research
Your abstract should contain new, unpublished data. Previously published work is not eligible for presentation.
  4. Include Appropriate Statistical Analysis
When reporting results, include proper statistical methods and significance levels (p-values) where applicable.
  5. Use Clear, Precise Language
Write in complete sentences with proper grammar and spelling while avoiding jargon. Abbreviations must be defined and should be used sparingly.
  6. Craft an Informative Title
Create a title that accurately reflects your research content and captures interest. Please note that the title is included in your allowed 3,300 keystrokes.
  7. Provide Complete Author Information
List all contributors and their institutional affiliations. The first author will be the corresponding author and asked to attend the IETS 2026 Annual Conference.
  8. Select the Appropriate Section Preference
Choose the most relevant first and second sections preferences for your research to ensure proper review and placement in the program.

NEW THIS YEAR:

  1. Proofread Thoroughly
Before submission, carefully review your abstract for errors, clarity, and adherence to guidelines. Consider having a colleague review it as well.
  2. Submit Early
Don’t wait until the July 23, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. CT deadline! Early submission allows time to address any technical issues and make corrections if needed.
